A year after first signing the Gryphon star linebacker the Winnipeg Blue Bombers have done it again. The Bombers want John Rush back in Winnipeg for his second training camp with the team.

Rob Massey has written a detailed story on Rush’s path back to the CFL over on the Gryphon Football Team App and includes some details of Rush’s dominating season with the OFC’s Hamilton Hurricanes. He won the league’s Defensive Player of the Year award.

Last year it was in the middle of November that the Winnipeg Blue Bombers put Rush on their negotiation list. In fact, it was just a day or two after he was the Defensive MVP of the Yates Cup. Less than two weeks later Rush would win the Presidents’ Trophy as the top Defensive Player in the CIS. He was signed by the Bombers shortly thereafter.
