Congrats to Dan MacDonald

Congratulations to Daniel MacDonald on realizing his dream of playing in the CFL!

This past week MacDonald was signed by the Saskatchewan Roughriders. He made his CFL debut in yesterday’s Labour Day Classic with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Picked by the Toronto Argonauts in the 2015 CFL Draft MacDonald returned to Guelph for his fifth and final season. In the off-season the Argonauts put MacDonald on their 20-man “Neg” list thereby preventing him from signing with another CFL. MacDonald was released by the Argonauts when he was injured during their 2016 training.

There was never any question in my mind that Dan MacDonald had CFL-level ability as a long snapper. It was just a matter of time before someone needed his talents. He becomes the 10th former Gryphon to play in the CFL this season.

Thanks very much Brad. He played very well yesterday with no practice and in a pressure packed atmosphere. Got to be a parent and not a coach for once. Think I was way more nervous than he was!
