News & photos – July 16/16

I was in Guelph on Wednesday night for a meeting of the Friends of Gryphon Football executive. I arrived early in order to have a few minutes to check out the stadium construction. I took a few photos of the progress.

And a few interesting warning signs …

Mike Aloisio

The Gryphon coaching staff has lost another coach to the CFL. Video Coordinator & Defensive Assistant Mike Aloisio has had his part-time position in the CFL head office turn into a full-time contract position. Back in March I wrote … Ultimately, it would be great for him to land a full-time job with the CFL … so I can’t be happier for Aloisio who joined the Gryphon staff 4 years ago as an intern.

BTW Matt Nesbitt was the other coach who landed a CFL job when the Toronto Argonauts hired him as their Assistant O-Line Coach.

It sounds like a large part of the burden of Aloisio’s leaving will fall on the shoulders of Offensive Assistant Kyle Cole. Cole joined the Gryphon staff back in the Spring after previously working with the Laurier Golden Hawks. Cole was on the Team Ontario coaching staff for the U17 squad that participated in the Spalding Cup in Montreal last week.

As I’ve been sitting here writing this, my Tiger-Cats platinum plus MasterCard has been sitting on the desk in front of me. [3 minute timeout] I can now tell you that I finally went to Gryphons Box Office and purchased my 2016 Season Tickets. That means no waiting in lines to buy tickets for any home game this season!! No having to worry about scrounging for tickets to the Homecoming Game. Have you bought your season tickets?
