From the Toronto Argonauts official announcement:
The Toronto Argonauts Football Club announced today that they have selected the University of Guelph and Alumni Stadium as the site of their 2016 Training Camp.
“Our decision to host training camp at the University of Guelph was based on our belief that this facility is best for our football team’s preparation for the upcoming season,” said Jim Barker, Argonauts General Manager. “Alumni Stadium has an excellent football field and all of the other necessary facilities we need to be successful. We couldn’t be more excited about heading to Guelph later this Spring.”

GUELPH, ON – The Toronto Argonauts will call the University of Guelph home this spring. The Canadian Football League (CFL) team announced Tuesday that it has chosen to hold its 2016 training camp at U of G’s Alumni Stadium. The Argos will be in Guelph May 25 to June 18 preparing for their upcoming season, which begins June 23.
“We are thrilled to welcome the Argos to U of G for what will be an exciting month around our campus,” said Scott McRoberts, the Director of Athletics at the University of Guelph. “Our current facilities already rank among the best in the country at the university level, and with over $50 million combined going towards the construction of a new athletics centre and football pavilion, it is an exciting time to be a Gryphon.” The new athletics centre is set to open in 2016 while the construction on the new football pavilion will begin this spring.
If you were to go back a few decades earlier, you would find even more history between the CFL and the University of Guelph. During the 1980’s and ’90’s the Toronto Argonauts trained off-and-on at U of G. Although the Argonauts have spent the last two years training out of York University, the announcement that the team’s training camp will be returning to Guelph signalled a return home for a trio of players on the current roster.
Cam Walker, Jake Reinhart and Dan MacDonald have each traded in the red, black and gold for the double blue of the Argos. The three former Gryphon football players each enjoyed standout careers during their time at the University of Guelph before making the transition to the CFL.
