Kyle Sinden is a lightning quick running back out of Tillsonburg’s Glendale High School. While listed at 5’8″ & 164 pounds, Sinden has put up big numbers on the football field. And on the track. And in the weight room. Those numbers include 17 touchdowns in 8 games at the HS junior level. Then, 9 TDs, 968 yards on 116 carries in his first year of senior ball. On the track Sinden has run an 11.18 100M, a 4.43 sec 40 and recorded a jump of 6.43 meters in the long jump. The impressive numbers don’t end there … Sinden can also bench 275 pounds and has a vertical jump of 38.5″.
Kyle Sinden is one of five running backs in the 2015 recruiting class. This position was a major area of need with the departure of Rob Farquharson and only 4 RBs on the roster. Farquharson was the 2nd most productive rusher in Gryphon history, so there is a major hole to be filled with lots of snaps up for grabs. Returnees are Johnny Augustine, Brandon Gordon, Rob Carnegie and Daniel Salmon-Palmer. With the Gryphons often utilizing a 3-back formation they needed to stock up.
First off, Sinden adds much needed depth at RB. He may not be big but I love his speed and testing numbers. Taken together those numbers add up to a special athlete. To see how that translates to the football field check out Sinden’s Hudl highlights from the 2014 summer season with the Forest City Thunderbirds of the OFC. You get to see him up against “known” competition like the Burlington Stampeders, Hamilton Canes and KW Predators. Sinden reminds me a lot of Ryan Nieuwesteeg who came to Guelph as a RB.
