ST. CATHARINES – It was a great weekend for Niagara area football players competing at the Canadian Interuniversity Sports level.

Top results, as compiled by CIS football correspondent Peter Partridge, were: in Guelph’s 49-22 victory over York, Johnny Augustine (Notre Dame) had 14 carries for 88 yards and three touchdowns and five receptions for 98 yards, John Rush (Saint Michael) had three solo tackles and six assisted tackles and DL Donnie Egerter (Saint Paul) had one solo tackle and three assisted tackles; in Carleton’s 62-16 win over Windsor, WR Wilson Birch (Westlane) had three catches for 77 yards, including a 62-yard touchdown, and kicker Michael Domagala (Holy Cross) had a 22-yard field goal and eight converts; in McMaster’s 57-42 win over Ottawa, WR Max Cameron (Sir Winston Churchill) had six receptions for 72 yards and a touchdown; and, in Manitoba’s 46-38 loss to Calgary, RB Alex Christie (Sir Winston Churchill) had eight carries for 48 yards and a touchdown, two kick-off returns for 28 yards and two solo tackles.
