The University of Guelph will once again host an OUA Top Recruit Combine on Wednesday, May 20 from 7 to 10pm.
The Top Recruit Combine series got its start last December with eight generally very well attended combines across Ontario, including one in the Gryphon Fieldhouse. Guelph’s football coaching staff fully supports this initiative. I’ve written previously that at least two members of the 2015 Gryphon recruiting class – Greg Corfield & Simon DiMaria – had impressive performances at the 2014 combines.
“The OUA Top Recruit Football Combine Series is the perfect proving ground for prospective student-athletes looking to take the next step” said Gord Grace, OUA Chief Executive Officer. “As witnessed during the winter Combine Series, Ontario has an abundance of talented football players who will undoubtedly make a significant impact within our league in the years to come.”
This will be the only talent identification camps in the province that will be attended by coaches and recruiters from OUA football programs.
Each event in the series will give prospective OUA student-athlete football players the opportunity to showcase their talents in front of OUA coaches and recruiters from all eleven teams.
The three hour camp will include: physical testing, individual drills, one-on-ones, and the opportunity for teams and student-athletes to meet.
The OUA Top Recruit Football Combine Series is geared towards underclassmen, currently in or entering Grade 10 or 11, with an interest in obtaining a post-secondary education while playing football in OUA.
However, any students currently not playing football at a CIS institution are welcome to attend.
Registration for the camps is open now through the OUA website. Early-bird online registration is $30. Walk-up registration is $45.
Each participant will receive an OUA information package including an official OUA Combine Series shirt.
