Cam Walker makes big hit on UWO QB

Best of luck to defensive end Cam Walker at tomorrow’s CFL Regional Combine in Toronto!

Walker is one of 7 Gryphons invited to the event. All 7 were members of Guelph’s 2011 recruiting class.

Walker has been on the radar of some CFL teams since his sophomore year largely because of his outstanding special teams play. A full 3 minutes of Walker’s highlights are special teams plays.

A synopsis of Walker’s Gryphon career including information from his Gryphons.ca profile:

2014: In 8 reg season and 2 playoff games he recorded 47 solo & 5 assisted tackles, 14 TFLs for -61 yards, 6 sacks, 3 forced fumbles and 1 recovered fumble. Named Team Defensive Player of the Game and OUA Defensive Player of the Week 3 times, including in both wins over Western. Selected 1st Team OUA All Star … Won his second Tom Dimitroff Award as the team’s Defensive MVP.

2013: Started in seven games in his third season with the Gryphons… recorded 26.5 total tackles, six sacks for a total loss of 29 yards, nine tackles with a total loss of 35 yards, including one broken up pass. In the playoffs versus Windsor he recorded 3.5 total tackles, 1.5 sacks and one forced fumble. Against Queen’s he recorded three solo tackles and one sack. Week 2 & 9 Gryphon Defensive Player of the Week, 2014 West Team Member at East West Bowl, OUA Second Team All-Star, Named Team Defensive Player of the Year

2012: Suited up in all eight games in his second season with the Gryphons…recorded 31.5 total tackles, one sack for a loss of nine yards, one fumble recovery and one broken up pass. Named an OUA 2012 First Team All-Star for the special teams Rush/Cover position … Football Team’s Special Teams Player of the Year…Week 5 & 6 Special Team’s Player of the Week

2011:  Suited up in all eight games in his rookie season with the Gryphons … recorded 12.5 total tackles.
