Recruit profile: Luke Korol

LB recruit Luke Korol #51

LB recruit Luke Korol #51

Background info: 6′ 225 – Corpus Christi [Burlington ON] & Burlington Stampeders of the OFC

Position: Linebacker – the fact that Korol is now 225 pounds [was 205 when he committed last September] makes me think he will play in the middle.

Luke Korol_recruitAccomplishments:  Ranked the #4 linebacker in the 2014 recruiting class by Top Prospects … CanadaFootballChat ranked him the #67 prospect in Canada at any position … Played for U19 Team Ontario Selects against Team USA in the 2013 International Bowl … Captain of the 2013 GHR Current Stars team and played for the GHR Rising Stars All Stars in 2012 … Defensive MVP for the Burlington Stampeders in 2013 … Played for the Corpus Christi Longhorns in Halton’s highly competitive Tier 1 league.

My Take: When I watch Korol’s highlights I see a hard-hitting player with a nose for the ball. He’s a good tackler who closes quickly and runs down players from behind. With his size and his high ranking by the experts, I expect Korol will be able to compete as a freshman for playing time. He could be a force on special teams right away while acting as an understudy to Mac LB John Rush who is entering his draft year.
