Biographical info: 6’2″ 190 – Resurrection CSS [Kitchener ON] & Twin City Predators of the OFC.
Position: Receiver – Joseph was a two-way player at Resurrection – receiver & corner. Definitely recruited to play offense at Guelph. He looks to me like a wide-out but his running ability makes me wonder if he couldn’t also play in the slot.
Accomplishments: Nationally ranked receiver & #89 prospect in Canada at any position according to Canada Football Chat … Joseph didn’t appear on the CFC’s preseason lists but exploded as a national recruit based on a blockbuster 2013 season with the Resurrection Phoenix … in WCSSAA Tier 1 the Phoenix were 7-1 and ranked among the Top 50 H.S. teams in the country, finishing at #24 … in 8 games Joseph scored 15 TDs, racked up 1084 receiving yards, 308 rushing yards … no team all season held him below 100 receiving yards … Joseph was runner-up for the 2013 Doug Shuh Award [MVP of Waterloo Region high school football] and was a 1st Team WCSSAA All Star, plus a team captain and an honour student at Rez … played 2 years with the TC Predators including the OFC championship team in 2012.
My Take: With four veteran receivers graduating and Joseph possibly one of only three freshmen receivers coming to training camp, he has a chance to make a mark as a freshman. Joseph already has good size but I expect he’ll be able to add weight and get stronger once he gets under the supervision of Strength & Conditioning Coach Jordan Foley. If nothing else we need talented young receivers like Joseph to push the veterans in the battle for four vacant positions on the dress roster.
