Trey Gervais scores game winning TD in 2012 Golden Horseshoe Bowl

Biographical info: 6’2″ 190 – Lakeshore Catholic [Dunnville ON], plus the OFC Niagara Storm and the Hamilton Hurricanes of the CJFL. Has already graduated from Conestoga College with a diploma in General Arts & Science.

Position: Receiver – my first thought is Gervais has the height you would like in a wideout [a W or Z in the Guelph system] but not having seen him play or found any video of him I’m can’t be certain whether or not he might also be able to play the slot. Certainly there will be lots of competition at the receiver positions this training camp with four veterans graduating.

Recruit Trey GervaisAccomplishments: Played last season for the CJFL’s Hamilton Hurricanes averaging 24.7 yards per reception, also returned 11 punts and kicks … won the 2012 OFSAA Golden Horseshoe Bowl as a Lakeshore Gator. Caught 3 passes on the last-minute, game-winning drive including the winning TD in the final seconds … a team captain for the Gators in 2012 … a 4-time team captain for the Niagara Storm. Led the Storm in receptions and named the Storm’s Offensive MVP in 2012 & 2013 …

My Take: Gervais comes from a perennial powerhouse high school program. Lakeshore has sent plenty of talent to OUA programs including Mike Millar, Corey Davidson, Keaton Spratt, Kyle Fraser and others to Guelph. I expect the combination of playing at Lakeshore in Niagara’s competitive ‘AAAA’ league & a season with the Hurricanes will have Gervais ready to compete early in his career.
