Freshman CB Jadon Johnson [D’Youville, Brampton] and Gryphon DB recruit Nick Parisotto [Lourdes, Guelph] have both earned a place on the National Junior Team 60-man roster. See the full roster here. The Football Canada press release said the following:
The 60 player roster was selected from close to 500 players who took part in regional identification camps across Canada. These top prospects will take on USA Football’s U19 squad in Texas, competing for one of 45 spots to represent Canada at the 2014 U19 (19-and-under) World Championship in Kuwait.
It is a great honour for Johnson and Parisotto to be a part of this team. And a great opportunity to play USA Football’s National Junior Team in Texas. Of course, the ultimate goal will be to earn a spot on the Team Canada squad that plays in the Junior World Championships. Travelling to Kuwait for the tournament could be a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Gryphons who have previously played for Team Canada at the IFAF Junior World Championships are John Rush and A’dre Fraser in 2012, and Jordan Duncan [my son] in 2009. Having attended all of the games in Canton, Ohio in 2009, I can tell you this is an incredible event that players and families will remember forever.
