Recruit profile: Tyler Iveson

OL recruit Tyler Iveson

OL recruit Tyler Iveson

Biographical Info:  6’4″ 270 – Forest Heights [Kitchener, ON] and OFC’s Twin City Predators. Iveson was accepted to UofT, Carleton and Laurier but chose to study Criminal Justice and Public Policy at Guelph.

Position:  OL – definitely an offensive lineman. His frame and athleticism make me think he will probably be a tackle.

Honours:  A two-way gridiron star at Forest Heights. But also a star on his school’s  basketball team where he helped lead them to a WCSSAA championship. Iveson also plays rugby at a competitive level.

My Take:   I haven’t seen Iveson play or found any video on him. But if Mike MacDonald is excited about this young man then that is good enough for me. MacDonald clearly knows what he is looking for and he hit it out of the park with his first OL recruiting class. I trust his judgement and love the fact that he is excited about Iveson’s toughness. Unfortunately Iveson reported to training camp with a broken foot so he won’t have an impact in 2013. But from what I’m hearing Iveson has a great attitude and has the S&C coach raving about his work in the weight room. Look for him to compete for a dress roster position in 2014.
