Defensive back recruit Mannie Quainoo

Biographical Info:  5’9 170 – Donald A. Wilson HS [Whitby, ON] and the OVFL’s Oshawa Hawkeyes. Quainoo will study Criminal Justice and Public Policy.

Position:  DB – Quainoo was recruited because he is an outstanding athlete. He has played lots of positions in his football career. At Wilson he played receiver, tailback and defensive back. Guelph has said they will look at him in the defensive backfield. That may not be the end of the story.

Honours:  Quainoo has been a part of three LOSSA Tier 1 Championship teams with the Wilson Gators. The 2011 team captured the Metro Bowl Championship in an impressive win over St Andrew’s College. Wilson HC Adam Papadakos has built an outstanding program and that includes some excellent training facilities. Quainoo has taken advantage of those training facilities and has a reputation as a “beast” in the weight room. Quainoo was selected to the GTA Rising Stars All Star team in 2011.

My Take:  I’ve heard that Quainoo is an athlete that Guelph wanted regardless of position. His outstanding athleticism could allow him to play on either side of the ball at the CIS level. A player with that sort of talent gives a roster lots of flexibility.

Note:  I have not found any video highlights for Mannie Quainoo
