Defensive back recruit Justis Croasdale

Defensive back recruit Justis Croasdale

Biographical Data:  6’1″ 185 – Sinclair Secondary School [Whitby, ON] and Pickering Dolphins of the OVFL. One source told me he would be closer to 200 lbs when he reported to training camp. [Update: the 55-man roster in the season opener listed him at 195]

Position:  DB – I expect that Croasdale will be used inside. He has the size and he’s the hard hitting type you want on the interior. That could be at defensive half or safety. Croasdale could even grow into a LB in the future.

Honours:  Croasdale’s Sinclair Celtics teams were among the better squads in the Tier 2 of LOSSA in 2011 & 2012. Croasdale played for the OVFL’s Pickering Dolphins at the PeeWee, JV and Varsity levels. In the 2012 OVFL season he recorded 42 tackles [31 solo & 11 assists] and a total of 77 defensive points in the OVFL’s stats. Croasdale was the starting safety for the GTA All Stars in their victory over the GHR this past spring. He was named the game’s Defensive MVP in large part because of four “blow-up” hits he made in the game.

My Take:  Croasdale’s reputation really took off based on his performance at various combines and tryout camps. Prior to that he didn’t have a huge rep outside of his own region. But based on his physique, his physical play and testing numbers every school in the OUA was suddenly recruiting him. Guelph has landed a very good player who has all the physical gifts needed to play in the CIS. He will refine his skills and techniques as a freshman and be an impact player in the future.

Note:  I have not found any video highlights for Justis Croasdale.
