Recruit profile: Shaq Munroe

Shaq Munroe

Biographical Data:  5’8″ 180lbs – Etobicoke Collegiate [Etobicoke, ON] and the Etobicoke Eagles of the OVFL. Will study Economics.

Position:  DB – Munroe has primarily played boundary corner. He is short but incredibily athletic. He also has great fundamentals making him capable of playing either corner or half.

Honours:  Munroe was a member of the Etobicoke CI Rams from 2008 thru 2012 and a team captain four of those seasons. He is the only Ram to be named team MVP in consecutive years. Munroe was both Offensive and Defensive MVP for the Rams in 2012.  A long-time member of the Etobicoke Eagles program, Munroe led the OVFL [JV] in interceptions in 2011. He played in the OVFL’s Top Prospects Game and made the GTA Rising Stars team in 2012. Munroe was named an OVFL All Star in 2012 & 2013. And not just an All Star in 2013 but the #1 vote-getter at DB as judged by the league’s coaches.

My Take:  Munroe brings a significant amount of talent that will help replenish a DB-core that has had major turnover the past two years. Physically strong with a “thick” build Munroe meets the test of “physically ready to play”. Munroe isn’t just good in coverage but he is a very good tackler as well. He is capable of contributing early.

Hey Joey Belanger committed after our press release. Could you do a in depth job on his profile? The coach had called months ago that he hadn’t been announced.

    Thanks!!
