From the CFL transaction wire:

My interpretation of this:  Jake Piotrowski will be free to return to Guelph for his 5th year. But the Alouettes want to retain his CFL rights. That’s why the suspension rather than cutting him outright. This way he is still their property and not free to join another CFL team this year or attend another team’s training camp next year.

For what it’s worth, Piotrowski actually has 3 years of CIS eligibility remaining. He redshirted as a freshman. Started at guard as a Sophomore. Started at left tackle as a Junior. Missed his entire 4th season recovering from shoulder surgery. However, I fully expect that with a degree in hand this will be his final season. Hopefully a long CFL career will follow.

Former Gryphon Jason Diston suited up for the Tiger-Cats and saw action in the game. Diston redshirted as a freshman wide receiver with the football Gryphons in 2009. He had an outstanding season with the Gryphon Track and Field team winning a National Championship in 2010. If I recall correctly, he finished 2nd in the OUA and 3rd at the CIS meet in the Pentathalon. He was the CIS Rookie of the Year in Track. Diston transferred to Niagara College after his freshman season and played several seasons for the CJFL’s Burlington Braves.
