Bill Brown wins coaching award

Earlier this spring the Ontario Football Alliance announced the winners of their Program of Excellence Awards. A Gryphon football alumnus, and current coach, was among the major winners. In fact, Guelph’s Recruiting Coordinator and Special Teams Coordinator, Bill Brown, was named Major Coach of the Year. Yesterday, Brown received his ring [below] from the OFA.

Team O SelectsBrown has been a stalwart on the coaching staff of Team Ontario West for many years. He has served as both DB coach and Special Teams Coordinator, a role he holds again in 2013.  This past winter Brown was Head Coach of the Team Ontario Selects U-17 squad that defeated Team USA 20-19 in Austin TX. In addition to his work with Team Ontario and the Guelph Gryphons, Brown has coached at the local high school level, in the OVFL with the Guelph Bears and served as Defensive Coordinator of the GHR All Star team. Coach Brown is an NCCP Level 3 certified coach and has been a course presenter for NCCP Coaching Clinics.

From the OFA website:

“Coach Bill Brown simply leads by example. I have never encountered a coach who prepares so methodically and thoroughly as Coach Brown does. Coach Brown can often be found praising his players and directing them in a positive way.” – Shayne Campbell
