The Waterloo Warriors are in their second year back after the program was suspended for a season. They are 0-2 so far in 2012 after going 0-8 in 2011. You can find their 2012 CIS profile here. I don’t expect that they will make this game particularly competitive though they have scored a surprising number of points in the their first two games – 31. They have faced two of the top teams in the OUA in Western and McMaster. Their offense features several key players who are former Gryphons. Their top two QBs are both former scout team players at Guelph – Brian Chris and Jamie Cook. A top receiving target and special teams player, Nick Anapolsky, was a Gryphon in 2010.
Previous four meetings: Guelph is 4-0 versus the Warriors since 2007. Not many of the games were even close.
2011 – 65-13 Guelph
2010 – Did not play
2009 – 34-24 Guelph
2008 – 37 -22 Guelph
2007 – 41-8 Guelph
What to expect: The real story this week isn’t the game itself but rather the “Grand Re-opening of Alumni Stadium”. I’m more excited about seeing the first game on the new turf field than actually watching Waterloo. Like last season this should be an opportunity for the Gryphons to play their full roster and for youngsters to gain some experience.

Canada Football Chat lists the point spreads for each CIS game each week. Last week they had Guelph as an 11-point underdog at Windsor. The oddsmakers don’t seem to be big believers in the Gryphons based on this line:
Waterloo (0-2) at Guelph (1-1) Guelph by 18
