- Two-a-day practices ended Monday. I believe the Gryphons are now practicing and preparing for Labour Day as they would any week of the regular season.
- Interesting, and encouraging to see that the Saskatchewan Huskies squad we beat on Friday is ranked #8 in the preseason CIS ranking released Tuesday. CIS Football Top 10 – Read the fine print and you will see Guelph received 23 votes, essentially putting the Gryphons at # 13.
- If you check out the Gryphons Box Office at gryphons.ca you will now see the message “TICKET SALES CLOSED UNTIL SEPTEMBER 4th DUE TO ONGOING CONSTRUCTION AT THE STADIUM”. Combine that with the info in this Guelph Mercury article – Seating will be reduced for Guelph Gryphons homecoming game – and one of my worries has been realized. The newly laid sod won’t be ready to handle thousands of spectators. I would suggest you don’t waste any time ordering tickets on the 4th.
- A little blurb and photo about the turf in the Merc – Piecing it together.

The Toronto Sun carried a story Monday on WLU grad Shamawd Chambers. A wide receiver, Chambers was a first round pick of the Edmonton Eskimos and was playing with the Esks in Toronto that night. I include the story link – Chambers had a lot of help getting to the CFL – because it involves the Lindsey family – Saxon, Jazz and their father Vael – and will be of interest to many who know them.
