Around the OUA

You know the football season is almost here when Ontario’s daily newspapers start paying attention to OUA football again.  [This is an issue with me and one of the reasons that I started this blog.] But some coverage is better than no coverage. Here are links for the stories I have found so far:

Windsor LancersLancers take football field Monday
Tecumseh’s Brescacin to rejoin Lancers

Western MustangsHoles in line-up a worry [I’m surprised how candid the LFP is about UWO’s challenges]

Wilfrid Laurier Golden HawksLaurier QB prospect may not be eligible

Waterloo Warriors – Surprise! No news.

McMaster Marauders – Nothing yet from the Spectator. That is a surprise.

York Lions & Toronto Varsity Blues – No news in the Sun or Star.

Queen’s Golden GaelsGaels prepare to open camp [I thought Queen’s fans were saying the Gaels only lost one DL. HC Sheahan says its two – Ukwouma & Pankewich.]

Ottawa GeeGeesGeeGees looking for a temporary home [because uOttawa’s new stadium is months behind schedule]
GeeGees heading west [GeeGees find temporary home]
Etcheverry to become GeeGees football coach [GeeGees hire former CFL coach on an interim basis. You know it is going to be worth reading when Tim Baines is the writer.]

  1. From what I’ve heard in the past, ole Mo Dalla Costa has at times butted heads with Marshall and the Western footballers. The usual puff piece is still a part of the LFP’s Stang coverage but there are times when Morris doesn’t give the home team the home team discount.
