Guelph has received a commitment from another member of the St Christopher’s Cyclones of Sarnia. Unlike his teammate, two-way athlete Martin Popiel, Scott Morrison has never played any offense. This 6’2″ 220 pound linebacker always wants to be the one doing the hitting. As a linebacker Morrison has played both in the middle and on the outside. He has also played on the d-line and is an experienced special teams player. Any discussion of Morrison with his coaches will include the descriptors “very, very physical” and “hard hitting”. He clearly loves the contact part of playing football.
While Morrison didn’t play football until he was in Grade 10, his coaches quickly knew they had a star on their hands. Morrison was a defensive captain and played rugby for the Cyclones. As a relative newcomer to the sport, I would expect that Morrison will add to his football experience by playing on the scout team in 2012. He already has the size to play in the CIS, so look for him to get stronger while working on his speed and agility before contributing at the Mac LB position.
