From the West Van Football blog:
Senior Free Saftey, Jake Pinnock has signed a letter of intent to attend The University of Guelph and play football for the Gryphons. Jake was named a North Shore All-Star at Linebacker in 2011 and received a West Vancouver Football Coaches Dedication Award.
“Jake is one of the toughest players I have coached. Over the past two years I have seen him transform himself on and off the field, with his hard work. He was a team captain that lead by example and always gave everything he had.” ~Coach Anderson
West Van Football would like to congratulate Jake and wish him luck in the next step for his school and football career. Jake truely represents our motto at West Van Football, “Success is not a goal, it is a by-product of hard work and commitment.”
While he was named a league All Star at linebacker, it’s my understanding that Pinnock is coming to Guelph as a defensive back prospect. At 6’1″ and 180lbs Pinnock brings good size to the position. Pinnock opened the 2011 season as a free safety/wide receiver and recorded two interceptions, four tackles and two receptions in the first game. But a series of injuries forced this team-first player and versatile athlete to line up at quarterback, running back and linebacker. His highlights clearly show that he’s an elite athlete who also excelled in all these other positions.
