Gryphons add a fourth OVFL All Star OL

Daniel Urbshas is no stranger to the University of Guelph campus or its football program.  His father, a Physics Lab Supervisor, has been a UofG employee for years and Daniel already works part time on campus.  Certainly, Urbshas could never have escaped the attention of Gryphon coaches.  Even as a 12 or 13-year-old, his size and performance made him a stand-out at summer football camps.  So it should be no surprise that this product of Our Lady of Lourdes will be a Gryphon.

With the Lourdes Crusaders Urbshas had plenty of success including a District 10 championship in 2010.  Urbshas is a two-time District 10 All Star.  He was selected as a defensive lineman in 2010 and an offensive lineman in 2011.

All star status is nothing new for Urbshas.  He was an OVFL All Star offensive lineman for the Guelph Bears in 2010.  This four year Bears’ veteran played in the 2011 OVFL Prospects game.  At 6’2″ 255lbs, Urbshas is a very strong and athletic center.  He plays very agressively and already displays very good technique.  He is a hard working player who will look to add some weight to his frame.
