With Todd Galloway bringing in a new offense that requires two athletic running backs – a tailback and an H-back – you had to know that bringing in talent to suit the scheme would be a priority in this recruiting cycle. Guelph is closer to accomplishing that goal with the commitment of RB Travis Jennings to the Gryphons program. Jennings is a 5’9″ 184lb speedster out of Etobicoke’s Don Bosco CSS.
At Don Bosco Jennings racked up multi-touchdown performances with regularity. In fact, I didn’t come across a game report going back to 2009 where he didn’t score at least 2 TDs. This year Don Bosco outscored opponents 190 to 19 on the way to a 5-0 regular season. Jennings performances earned him Toronto Star Athlete of the Week honours. Speaking of honours, Jennings earned himself a selection to the OVFL All Star team in 2010. And he played in the 2011 OVFL Prospects Game.
Jennings played his OVFL football for the Metro Toronto Wildcats. In 2011 his Wildcats head coach was Frank Panos, a former Gryphon offensive lineman and team captain back in the 1990s. Jennings also got his first opportunity to play with Jazz Lindsey in 2011 as the two were Wildcats teammates.
