Team Ontario DB commits

Guelph has received a commitment from an outstanding Mississauga prospect. One good enough to have played for Team Ontario West and in the OVFL’s Prospects game, both in 2010.

Lester Ross, a 5’11” 175lb athlete, is a product of the outstanding St Marcellinus Spirit football team, a Peel Tier 1 program.  Ross was a member of Marcy’s 2009 ROPSSAA championship team.  He was captain of the team in 2010 & 2011.  A natural leader, Ross was also a team captain with the OVFL Mississauga Warriors – Varsity in 2010 & JV in 2009.

Ross is a very athletic player who hits harder than his size.  He was also a playmaker for the Spirit as a slot receiver and as a kick returner. The Gryphons weren’t “buying a pig in a poke” when they recruited Ross.  Coach Bill Brown worked with him on Team Ontario while Peel recruiter Steve O’Brien coached him in the OVFL Prospects game.  DC MacNeill and DB coach Simmons have also seen him play.  Look for Ross to compete for playing time at one of the vacant positions at defensive half or corner.
