2012 OUA Schedule Released

The 2012 football schedule was released today by Ontario University Athletics.  See the full schedule here.

It’s not ideal.  But there’s also nothing to really complain about.  Though I don’t like a home game on Thanksgiving Weekend.

We begin the season with two consecutive road games which is the less-than-ideal part.  We open against the Vanier Cup champion Marauders in Hamilton on Labour Day.  Then we travel to face the Lancers in Windsor for the second consecutive year.  But we don’t have to travel to Ottawa or Kingston.  The GeeGees are the one OUA rival we don’t face in 2012.   The Golden Gaels come to Guelph as the foes in our final home game.

Then after the opening two road games we have 4 of the next 5 games at home.  The latter two home games are back-to-back matches against OUA heavyweights Western and Queen’s.  At this point I don’t know which game will be on Homecoming Weekend but the Sept 22 game vs UofT would seem to be the normal timing.  There would be a significant revenge factor in that one.
