Final thoughts on Mac game

Players of the Week

Offence – Kevin Campbell  (#14 in photo)
Defence – Bryan Dunjko
Special Forces – Bryan Dunjko (this is not a misprint)

Both Campbell and Dunjko are receiving Pl-of-Wk honours for the second time this season.  Campbell, who scored the only Gryphon TD, is continuing to have a great season.  Dunjko’s season didn’t start too well – he was benched before halftime of the Ottawa game.  Perhaps because of that, other teams may have been targeting Dunjko in pass coverage.  His response has been outstanding – four INTs in three games.  His interception opportunities may drop now as teams look elsewhere when throwing the ball.

Some links from TheScore.ca that I didn’t think to include the other day:

The University Rush blog’s Monday Rundown – a recap of the weekend’s games in the CIS.  The featured game is the one that was televised by The Score that weekend – ie. Mac @ Guelph including some video.

If you are interested in reading Justin Dunk’s running commentary on the game you will find it here.

Some fans of other OUA programs have resorted to ridiculing the tweets of Coach Lang and Coach Brown.  [Their Twitter feeds can be seen in the right column of this blog.] Several of these critics made a big deal out of the fact that on Homecoming weekend the coaches tweeted about the record setting crowd and the teams’ new black uniforms.  But if you watch the game highlights (below) shown nationally on The Score’s news programs you’ll see what gets mentioned right off the top  “… a soldout Alumni Stadium in Guelph where the Gryphons brought out the brand new alternate black unis for their Homecoming game. When you’re playing in front of a packed house with some new sharp-looking unis …”.   If thats not enough, stories in the Mercury, the Hamilton Spectator and the University Rush blog all reference the crowd and/or the new black uniforms.
