The Gryphons have received two more commitments – one from a versatile offensive lineman and the other from an equally versatile defender.
Joining the team from St Andrew’s College in Aurora is 6′ 265lb Chris Hutton. A native of L’ange Gardien, QC, Hutton has played for the Saints for the past two seasons. He helped his Quebec high school team to a league championship in 2008. Hutton was described to me as a very hard worker and will likely be an interior linemen. At SAC he primarily played centre in 2010 and guard in 2009 when he lined up beside current Gryphon Ryan O’Connor. This talented lineman was also occasionally called on to play at right tackle.
Guelph has gone back to the talent-laden Burlington market to land M.M. Robinson’s Nigel Henry(#2 in red), a tough and aggressive 5’11″ 190lb defender. Henry is an outstanding tackler and dynamite run-stopper with great acceleration to the ball. He will likely get a look at SAM linebacker or defensive back. Henry has proven himself to be an excellent blitzer who produced numerous QB sacks with the Rams and the Burlington Stampeders. Henry holds a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, a sport in which he has won international competitions.
Henry is an excellent addition on the defensive side of the ball. A very good one-on -one tackler, who hits thru the ball carrier.
